July 2016 3 Day Neighbour Collection

2nd July 2016

June 30th, July 1st and 2nd seen the third National Neighbourhood Collection for us. This collection was the biggest to date. We are overwhelmed at just how mucIMG-20160701-WA0020h food and hygiene products were donated by the public. In total the amount raised was 2864.94kg. Tesco also top up customer donations by making a 20% financial contribution which can now be used within the Foodbank to expand and explore more areas in crisis. Firstly, we need to thank Store Manager Vince Lydon, Customer Experience manager Tamara Potts, Community Champion Anne Croucher and the Tesco team who went above and beyond to make this such a success. Secondly we need to thank all those who volunteered across the 3 days without those it would not have been possible to do this collection. Amazing people smiling throughout. These volunteers were from the Holywood Trust, The Lighthouse Church, Red Cross, Tesco Extra Staff, Apex Staff, Jacqui Matheson and all of the Dumfriesshire Foodbank Volunteers. Thirdly but most important we need to thank the Dumfriesshire public for their kind donations; every donation will be distributed to those in crisis.

Nationally this is the eighth Neighbourhood Food Collection and 2.8 million meals were donated during this collection.
